Acoustic Carpet Tiles
Carpet tiles that reduce impact noise by twenty six decibels or more, tested to BS EN ISO 10140-3. Impact sound means footfall, dropped objects and chair movement travelling into the room below, which is usually the complaint in offices above occupied space.
This is a different measurement from sound absorption within a room, which affects echo and speech privacy rather than what the floor below hears. If reverberation is the problem, wall and ceiling treatment will do more than the flooring will.
We have set the threshold at twenty six decibels because most commercial carpet tile already achieves around twenty three, so a lower cut off would not tell you anything useful.
